There's nothing I love more while I'm cleaning house or pinning up my victory rolls than listening to my favorite tunes. Nearly every vintage lover adores the Andrews Sisters and Elvis, of course- but check out some of these other musical talents from the 1930's to 1950's
Edith Piaf-I fell in love with "the little sparrow" while studying French in high school.
Milord-
La Vie En Rose-
Cole Porter-If you've never heard of Cole Porter, you may be surprised to find how many of his songs you probably already know!
Anything goes performed by Frank Sinatra
Cole Porter Medley by Judy Garland
Billie Holiday- you gotta love the sultry jazz sound of Miss Billie Holiday. Here are two of my favorites...
My Mother's son-in-law
Miss Brown to You
Bing Crosby- You may have heard the amazing Mr. Crosby jammin' with the Amdrews Sisters on a few of your records at home. Bing Crosby was voted one of the most admired men alive and is credited with doing the most for American soldiers during WWII.
Swinging on a Star
Sweet Georgia Brown
For more great vintage tunes, check out music by: Dinah Shore, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Glen Miller, Ella Fitzgerald, Perry Como, Mario Lanza, Frankie Laine, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, Nat King Cole, Chuck Berry, and The Chordettes

Definitely adore Edith Piaf, can't live without my Cole Porter, but my #1 favourite is Al Bowlly.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love Edith Piaf and Billie Holiday! Annette Hanshaw is another favorite of mine!
ReplyDeleteWhat delightfully wonderful selections. I've always adored Bing, he will forever me my favourite male crooner (sorry Frank and Dean, I love you fellows, too, but Bing won my young heart via the movie White Christmas and it's been his ever since).
ReplyDeleteSweet dear, today Chronically Vintage is celebrating its 1st birthday, and I really want to thank you straight from my heart for your wonderful comments, support and friendship, they’ve woven together to help make Chronically Vintage the delightful, inspiring place it is. I’m so looking forward to my next year of vintage blogging and of visiting your own marvellously lovely site!
Tons of hugs & thanks,
♥ Jessica
You've got to check this guy out. His name is Max Raabe. Complete with orchestra even! He does some classics (Cheek to Cheek) and puts a unique spin to more modern tunes. Though, to be fair, I can't stop giggling when I hear his version of Oops I did it again. Tainted love (in retro fashion) is neat to hear.

Love ALL of this. Cole Porter is one of my favourite song writers.
