Well-After a few weeks of feeling like HELL, I went to the doctor today and found out that I'm going to be a momma again! Gee, that really explains the feeling like I want to vomit all the time.
According to my doctor, I'm due on April 26th! We'll find out the gender of the baby right after Thanksgiving. I have a REALLY strong feeling that this baby is a boy.
Last week I JUST packed away the last of my maternity clothes and now I'll have to drag them out again! With my last pregnancy, I wore a lot of stretchy pants and t-shirt outfits and I'm really going to try to not do that this time around. Since this blog is founded on the "curvy gal" I'll still sty true to that theme, I'll just get curvier! :) I just bought a few vintage maternity patterns so with any luck at all, I'll get a little sewing in before the move!
Anyways, I don't know how often I will be posting in the next month or so. When I was pregnant with Olivia my first trimester was horrific. My morning sickness was so severe that I had to be on medication just to keep water and crackers down. This time around, I've been drinking a TON of peppermint tea (which really helps) and eating plenty of bland foods. If any of you mommas out there have any good morning sickness remedies, please do share!! I'm doing my best to battle the nausea since I have to take care of Olivia too. So, if I disappear for a week or so, it's because I have my head in the toilet but I'll be back! :D
What am I craving, do you wonder? Funny as it is, all I want are fruits and veggies! I can't eat meat or eggs (or even smell them) and I crave fruit, yogurt, cereal (with soymilk) and mostly healthy things (except for french fries). Although, I did wake up the other morning and as soon as my eyes popped open I said to Pj "I want cheesecake!!!"
With life changes always come blog changes but I'm not losing sight of my love of vintage! Amanda bought me a few baby care books from the 50's and 60's a few months ago, so I think I'll scan and share some of them with you. We'll still have lots of curvy gal fashions, friday movie nights for the remainder of 2010 and since we'll be moving, you'll get to see my home decor, which has always been retro and antiques. If moving into this house all pans out for us, I'll get to decorate my retro kitchen, paint the walls, and I also have great plans for a very Mad Men style guest area in the basement! :) I am a home decorating fanatic so I hope you'll enjoy joining me on my new home decor adventures!
After the initial pregnancy yuck passes, I'll be feeling glamorous again and will continue with tutorials and other fun things. So, my life is very up-in-the-air right now but I feel like it really has fun, good things in store and as life brings new, exciting things my way, it always transfers to my blog. I'm really excited to share of these fun, crazy times with blogland!

Try ginger, either as a tea or pills. It really helps with nausea, also the ginger pills really help cut down on car sickness, just pop a few before you trip and you’re ready to go!=)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'll try Ginger pills! I ate pickled ginger and drank ginger tea when I was pregnant with Olivia and now the taste makes me sick but I bet the pill form would help!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! When I was preggers the best thing for my morning sickness was the protein waters. My dr said the reason for the sickness is hunger so protein takes longer to digest. Drink one before you go to bed and have it by your bed to sip on whenever you wake up through the night. Amazing how it helped!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I am sorry to hear about the morning sickness, hopefully it will soon pass. I look forward to the upcoming posts :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Seems like the baby bug is catching for a lot of people this time of year. :) Best of luck with the baby and the move.
ReplyDeleteoh how wonderful..congrats sweetie..you will have loads of baby ideas to post too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! That's such fantastic news.

Another vote for protein! With baby #1, I had hyperemsis and was medicated. With baby #2, I had switched to a midwife who emphasized natural health care. She recommended eating protein every 2hrs (even if it's just a nibble of cheese or sipping on a protein drink)to keep the blood sugar stable. I can't say I wasn't sick, but I was able to avoid medication and IV fluids. Another help are the seasickness wristbands. To get through any times when I'd be around food, ie grocery shopping, cooking for the family, I'd suck on ginger lollipops or suck on Altoids http://www.morningsicknesshelp.com/preggiepop.html
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS!
Congratulations! I hope the yuckies pass quickly.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much to all of you for your great advice! I have already loaded up on yogurt, cheese, nuts and soybeans since I don't want to eat a lot of meat. I found frozen edamame on sale yesterday so I bought 3 bags! Altoids and preggie pops have been a godsend so far also!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I hope things are smooth sailing for you with this pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news!!!!!! I am so happy for you. Enjoy the adventure :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope you feel better soon. One of my friends did yoga and ate nothing but organics during both of her pregnancies. She swore by ginger and peppermint.
ReplyDeletecongratulations!! this is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Some of my favorite fashion is 50s maternity shirts.
ReplyDeleteAwww congratulations. I wouldnt know about morning sickness not being a mom yet but I do suffer from nausea alot so I's second the idea of ginger. its really easy aswell just get a bit of fresh ginger root cut a peice off about an inch long put in the bottom of your mug and pour the hot water on. You can use the peice of ginger pretty much the whole day just keep pouring on more hot water. x
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! How exciting! I hope it's a boy, you'd be even! :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness, seems like everyone I know online and off are having babies!
Congrats!! I'm so excited for you! xo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Brittany & Family!!! :D
ReplyDeleteOh wow! What fantastic news! I was very very sick with my first bub then second twin pregnancy so I feel your pain! Eating a little all the time helped, just making sure I never let my tummy get to that growly point and also eating something starchy before bed so your tummy is full in the morning, and also eating something before you even get out of bed, ie toast, bananna, biscuits. Haha Sounds like a lot of eating doesn't it! Good luck with the house loan! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that's really exciting news! I'm so happy for you, hope your pregnancy goes without a hitch!
ReplyDeleteGee - congratulations!! :")

ReplyDeleteCongratulations, fabulous news! I can't advise on sickness as I'm not a mum. I can advise on clothes though ha ha! Actually you got it already there are always LOADS of great maternity patterns around, so few people buy them so you should be ok!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, dear!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news Brittany,congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI sympathise with the morning sickness it was really bad with my last child.Celery was good & i constantly had a bottle of Perrier by my side(the bubbly one),it's great for quelling the nausea.
I hope the yukky feelings pass quickly & that the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly for you.I was very lucky with my last child, i was only in labour for a few hours & it was totally natural ,no drugs no gas.The midwife was great too,she didn't interfere unless i needed her to.
Good luck with buying your Grandma's house,i really hope you get it,it sounds perfect for you.
I look forward to seeing your home decorating, when your feeling up to it of course:)
Congratulations, Brittany!! Ginger candies are what helped me...kinda. Although, I can't exactly say I think ginger candies taste good! Hopefully, the pill form will help you.

Congratulations. If you can get hold of one the acupuncture elastic bands you wear on your wrist for travel/motion sickness they are meant to work well on morning sickness too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Another vote for ginger. It helped me with nausea.
