This week has crawled by and I'm so glad that the weekend is finally here! This weekend, we're carving pumpkins and decorating for Halloween!
Since Halloween is right around the corner, this week's Fashion and Film Friday pick is the HBO series True Blood. Not a movie, but hey. it works! I must admit that True Blood has its fair share of fashion dont's but tonight, I'd like to share some of my favorite "vintagey" costume moments....
First, there's the eternally glamorous vampire queen of Louisiana, Sophie-Anne with her gorgeous red hair and elegant style fit for a Queen. I don't know about all of you, but if I were I vampire Queen, I'd spend most of my time in my sun room too!
Even though she's obnoxious in that "ex-girl who can't get the hint" way, you can't deny that Lorena really paid attention to fashion in all of her years of being a vampire.
Although Pam's usual attire is dictated by her job at the vampire bar, Fangtasia, I still think she's one of the most fashionable characters on the show. While off the job, she loves couture pumps, designer handbags and all things pink. Her wardrobe before becoming a vampire was pretty wonderful too.
Happy Halloween planning!

Even if you're not a fan of vampires, this is a fantastic makeup tutorial based on Queen Sophie-Anne's look. -gorgeous!-

I have to admit I haven't watched True Blood yet - I hate coming into things halfway, I'll have to get the box set. Certainly now seeing some of the fab costumes! The vampire bite necklace made me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteI so wish we still dressed this way - my body would look so much better! Have a great weekend - Pumpkin carving for us too.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad, Penny! I jumped in towards the end of season 1! Luckily HBO showed re-runs before season 2 so I was able to catch up! Netflix is good for that too. My husband and I love to read aloud together so we just bought the first book (True Blood is based on The Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris) so I can't wait to start reading them! I wish the cover art for the books wasn't so cheeserific! :P
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite show! I've read all the books, too, nerd that I am! True Blood also uses great music, especially at Merlot's. I've heard Big Sandy and Wayne Hancock in the background. The werewolves in the third season were listening to Hank 3. The first episode Suki was listening to Kim Lenz on her boom box, and Kim's song "Zombie for your Love" was played in the last episode of the second season. Oh yeah, and Nick Curran was in the house band at Arlene and Rene's engagement party. The music, the costumes, the MEN and the great story keep me hooked!
ReplyDeleteI'm a true blood nerd too! Love Queen Sophie, Jessica and of course ERIC (swoon). The books are totally awesome as well, a very different vibe than the series.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that show!! only just started the 2nd series over her in the uk now however!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your pumpkin carving weekend!!!

ReplyDeletelol, had to delete my own comment, can't spell today! I was trying to say, Kim- you are SO right!!! I don't know who compiles the music for True Blood but whoever he is, he's a genius! Every episode is loaded with fantastic music
ReplyDelete9 Pretty Pin-up Girls? Oh well.
ReplyDeleteLove that necklace. Have a great weekend!
JJ- it's funny that you mention the pin-up girls because I was -just- thinking about that today. Out of 513 followers, I have no more than 4 male readers and two of you just started following me within the past 2 weeks. Oh, well- at any rate, I think I'll have to change it anyway! :P
ReplyDeleteThose first few pictures make me wish I was a redhead!
ReplyDeleteI love the Queen! I didn't even realize it was Rachel Evan Wood until my friend told me.
