We spent our Independence Day with a family barbeque. On Monday, I finished my Wearing History sailor play suit. Although I haven't worn shorts in public since I was about 10, I really like these. They are high waist, wide leg and very comfortable. I admit, I was terrified of wearing shorts in public. A too-short skirt that reveals my knees makes me feel strange but once I got out in the world (and no one pointed and laughed) I felt pretty good! I may have to make a few more pairs before next summer.
The 4th was so much fun. Olivia got to hold her first sparklers and my sister and I felt pretty hard core pinching snap n' pops in our fingers. Oh yeah!
We kept cool in the kiddie pool and drank margaritas from a can cause we're classy ladies like that.
The highlight of the day was watching Rhys on a trampoline for the first time. He ran like those hilarious desert lizards, trying to not let their feet touch the ground.
The weather here has been so hot and dry that many cities had to cancel their public displays.Pj and I took the kids to a parking lot across the street from our house with a huge hill and a beautiful view. We sat on the hood of the car, watching the best fireworks display in the city. It was a beautiful evening.

That outfit came out really well! Sounds like you guys had a fun time, we also lit sparklers as our fireworks. Gotta love Aris Allen!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the high waisted shorts! You look very slim in that outfit...and adorable as always! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! that playsuit looks perfect on you.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about my shoes, they are from a UK company called 'Office' and are their take on a 1920's dance shoe. I have had them for a few yars now.
Your play suit is very cute! Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour play suit just looks too darling! You look great in shorts! Though I totally understand I pretty much never wear shorts and if I do I feel like everyone is looking at my knees the whole time, ha. It sounds like a wonderful 4th :)

DeleteAwesome!!! It looks fantastic! Adorable on you :) Great pics, too.
ReplyDeleteThat playsuit is adorable! You look great in it.
ReplyDeleteCheck you out with your pins out!!!! Looks amazing AND comfortable! You have inspired me! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks adorable! I saw the pattern before but was worried about how it would look on a busty girl you put my fears to rest! I think this will be one of my next projects.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was worried about it too. I have a 44 inch bust and I used the largest size, graded up a tiny bit. I also lengthened the blouse so I'd have more room to tuck it in. As you know, having extra architecture up top makes shirts seem shorter :)
DeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you did it! Its amazing! And you look adorable with shorts on! So glad you did it!!! xox
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is gorgeous...and as for those knees well they are the cutest knees I have seen for a while - you have lovely pins. Funny how we get stuck in our heads how we look, I also have issue with my knees. I have similar body to you - busty, carrying a bit of weight (BTW I can definitely see the WW is doing great things for you - go gurl - FAB!!) but if asked what part of my body I liked the least it is definitely my knees - you are an inspiration! xx
ReplyDeleteYou did awesome! Love how you look! One of these days I am going to stop sewing crooked seams and attempt to find thread that matches fabric and sew one of these patterns I have piled up.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness what outfit makes you look amazing! :) it fits you perfectly! :) its looks like you had a wonderful 4th of july! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outfit! I love it!

You look teriffic, I love the playsuit. Would you do a summer make up review? With the heat and humidity some suggestions for heat proof make up and warm weather colors would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same with shorts.... I feel like I'm nude...
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous and you are lucky to be able to wear it with this sunny weather!!!

You look fab! I know what you mean about wearing shorts in public. I felt the same way, and last year I finally got some and wow, I realized the same thing you did, no one cared. Horray!! You did a great job on the playsuit.
ReplyDeleteAhoy there! Oh I love it- your whole outfit is super and it really suits you. I’m quite envious that you have the weather to be able to wear shorts even though I hardly ever wear them out as I feel my legs are too stick like to look nice in them :( Love your shoes to, I wish I bought the red ones instead of the black'uns now too!
ReplyDeleteTupney x
You look amazing! I never wear shorts because I just don't feel comfortable in them but maybe a playsuit is what I need! :)
ReplyDeleteLook FAB-U-LOUS as always! I adore your playsuit! I have those wedges in black and I see them in red on you and I want to go buy red pair for myself! The photos look great! They really seem to capture the essence of a fun day!
