I hope that everyone is having a lovely week so far! We've been moving all week, taking a few loads over every day. It's kind of nice to spread it out and unpack as we go. This Sunday, we'll get our beds and fridge over there and then the real fun begins!
I have absolutely no idea where I'm going to display my vintage hat collection. In my old apartment, I had them in the foyer and trailing up the stairs on the walls. The walls in my new living room are plaster so anything that I hang will have to be with those sticky hook thingys so I don't screw up the walls....and 76 hats makes for a ridiculous amount of sticky hooks. Perhaps they will decorate my drywall bedroom walls this time around?
Anyway, check out my new salt and pepper shaker collection! The original owner collected them for years and passed them on to her daughter, who gave them to me! This first one will have to go on my new mantle, don't you think? He's way too cool for the kitchen!
So cute! I love quirky salt and pepper shakers...I've collected a few myself. :)

I have plaster walls and hang tons of stuff. For hats though, you can just use sewing pins and empty apple sauce or yogurt containers or even cut down plastic or styrofoam cups. Just hammer the pin into the wall, take it back out, poke a hole in the bottom of the container and push it in. Gives the hat a wide base for support and barely makes a hole of any kind :)
ReplyDeleteWow, great score. Isn't it great when complete strangers give you stuff! I would buy the sticky things, you can get a pack of the small clear ones, I think like 8 come in a pack.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome collection! How sweet that she passed it on to you!!!!! xox

ReplyDeleteWhat a terrifically cute collection! I've always been a fan of vintage S&P shakers, yet only have one (plastic) pair so far. Hopefully I'll find more in yard sale seasons to come.

What a great collection! I have a set of Black Americana Salty & Peppy that were my husbands grandmothers and I would love to expand the collection. Oh, and I cant wait to see what you do with your hat collection.
ReplyDeleteAs for the little daisy top ones. Mom says she and her sisters used to keep those exact types in their lunch bags back in the 50's for seasoning their boiled eggs. I found one in the flea mkt years ago and bought it for her for a nostalgia fix.
