I was sorting through old books the other day when I found my copy of This Way to Beauty by Helena Rubinstein from 1936.
The book contains a lot of tips on hair, makeup, nails, weight loss, poise and skin care. Here's a peek at some of my favorite pages of the hair and makeup section
What a fun, informative read. Thank you very much for sharing these wonderful tips and ideas with us. I have a serious hankering to sport a 30s look now this weekend. :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you for that, dear gal! This is an amazing booklet, and has a lot of truly useful ideas. One thing that I don't thing I'd like to go for is sporting blue-green mascara for green eyes - but that is my personal preference (anyway: I don't used it alltogether lately, it botheres my eyes a lot).
I read every single comment (even on old posts) and they make my day! If you have a question, please email me at brittanyvavoomvintage@gmail.com. Thank you for reading me!
I love the "college girl" hair. It looks like Hedy Lamar!
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing advice. The pictures are very useful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant book with so many helpful tips. I love that line 'a lifted coiffure is most becoming'!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to find that blue mascara was available, I'd always assumed it was a much more modern thing!
